Swimming is one of our most popular event disciplines at the Harcourts Cooper & Co Beach Series and offers the choice of five different distances, catering to all ages and abilities! All swim events will be patrolled by Surf Life Saving New Zealand lifeguards.

Swim 2000m

The Swim 2000m is a new distance that has been introduced this season. The 2000m option is a great option for very experienced and confident ocean swimmers looking to push themselves a little further than 1500m. 2000m participants get points towards the Series Competition. The new 2000m option is a great stepping stone to the pinnacle of ocean swim events in New Zealand – the New Zealand Ocean Swim Series.

Swim 1000m & 1500m

The Swim 1000m & 1500m are great ocean swims for participants of all ages who have some good ocean swimming experience under their belts – it’s fun, but not too intimidating of a challenge! This season we are again offering both of these distances every event night. Participants of these two swims get points towards the Series Competition and therefore experience a more competitive environment.

Swim 500m

The Swim 500m is perfect for those who love the beach and swimming but are either ‘pool swimmers’, new to swimming in the ocean or prefer to get out swimming without the competitiveness of the longer distances. Whilst a more ‘social’ swim course being in closer to shore, it is still timed to ensure you’re able to track your progress throughout the season, qualifying you for Series ‘Age Group’ and ‘Overall’ Competitions.

Junior Swim 250m

The Junior Swim 250m is a fantastic distance for the budding swimmers. The swim course is close to shore, well supported by surf lifeguards and a great taste of what ocean swimming is all about for kids aged 12 years and below. It’s a great swim to do with your friends, brothers & sisters or you could even take mum or dad along for free for support and encouragement. The swim will be timed and points will be allocated which can accrue towards the Age Group Series Competition, if you swim in 12 or more events throughout the season.
