The Cropp family from the North Shore are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the State Beach Series.

Siblings 17yr old Jason and 14yr old Jacey are leading the series in their respective male and female divisions for the 1000m swim.

The keen North Shore Swimming Club members have been taking part in the popular Tuesday night multi discipline series for four years.

Mum Trish says her children love getting out on the beach and strive to do their best. “Jackson has come second the previous two years in the 1000km swim and Jacey came second, last year in the 5km run. Jacey started doing the run this year but switched to swimming.”

Despite their competitive spirit, Trish says there’s no rivalry. “They’re different ages so they don’t compete with each other.”

Jackson currently holds the national title for 200m backstroke in his age group, with Jacey receiving both silver and bronze medals at the same competition. Jacey is also a part of the Rangitoto College hockey team and is a keen triathalete.

Proud Mum Trish, says Jackson and Jacey simply have “big lungs”.
